Article and Photo Submissions

The Advocate depends on the SPHS IB community for news tips and photos.  The web site menu indicates categories of possible information including achievements, awards, recognition, team and group accomplishments,  alumni news, volunteer projects, etc.

Please send your tips and photos to Mrs Farias at  or The Advocate editors at

Submission tips and requests:

  • The story should highlight a current IB student, an IB alumnus, an IB-related event, or a SPHS group or club that includes IB students.
  • Photos are great news enhancers! Please send one or two of your best photos as email attachments.   Larger file size is better. Please avoid embedding photos in a Word document or in email text….but we can still work with them.
  • Please identify the names of people in a photo in the order they appear (except for group photos) or a caption that describes the photos.
  • Ideally, write your text as you wish for it to posted.  You can submit your text in an email or by attaching it in a Word document.
  • Don’t worry fonts, font sizes etc. We’ll reformat per website standards.
  • Don’t worry about spelling, grammar and punctuation because we’ll take care of those details too.
  • We might edit to add clarity or brevity or emphasis.   Readers of online newsletter articles don’t spend much time reading–they read and scan quickly.
  • If the news pertains to a website or a online video, please provide a link if you have one
  • PDF files.  If your content is in a PDF file, we can deal with it but it would be best /easiest for us if you could send the original non-PDF text and graphics or pictures that were used to create the PDF file.
  • If you intend a PDF file to be downloaded (e.g, a form or flyer), we can handle that.
