Theme for Covid-19

by Steven Gwaltney

my teacher gave me this poem

to show my deep disappointment

i understand why I’m stuck at home

but I don’t like solitary confinement

The virus hit us and stuck

but it didn’t stick like syrup or the honey

it stuck like poison on Romeos tongue

bringing death

as everything closes I long to leave and explore this new development

though I stay at home

so I watch and hope to see new news but everyday

every week

there’s nothing

together We’re alone

We miss Our friends Our partners and everyone else

being sad and anxious is an understatement

We hope it will stop

but,

We wait and hope, We laugh and cry, We stand and fall…but all from Our home
