Here is a list of important calendar dates for the remainder of this school year. Please note that dates/times are are subject to change!
Proctors are needed for this year’s IB examinations to be administered May 7 through May 24, 2019. Generally, proctors assist with distributing and collecting exam materials, escorting students to restrooms, and quietly surveying the room. IB International requires the presence of proctors during exams, and your presence can be supportive of the students and Mrs. Lane who serves as the examination coordinator. Training will be scheduled. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lane at LANEK@pcsb.org
The Google Form at this link 2019 IB Proctor Sign up has the IB exam schedule showing proctor needs and you can indicate which sessions you can proctor. The exams will be held on the P-Tech campus: 3548 11th Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33711. This is across 34th Street South from Gibbs High School. Please note: Google Maps or other GPS directions might take you to a non-public campus entrance. The parking lot and public entrance are on 11th Ave South only.
The Senior Celebration for 2019 SPHS IB graduates will be held on Monday May 20, 2019 from 5:45 pm – 9:30 pm at the the Coliseum.
Doors open at 5:45 pm with SPHS jazz band playing music. The a cappella Pitchforks will be introduced at 6:30 followed by the Roll Call of IB Seniors. Dinner will be served at 7 PM. Tables are pre-assigned to guests.
This special evening is dedicated to graduating IB seniors and their families and guests. The event includes dinner, recognition of each student, entertainment from talented IB Seniors, IB Senior awards, video reflecting the IB Seniors’ high school years, photo booths and more.

The SPHS Prom will be Friday evening, April 12, at the Coliseum from 8:00 to 12:00 midnight. The theme is “Havana Nights.” Presale tickets will be sold for 45.00 through April 5. Tickets the week of Prom (April 8-12) are $50. You can buy your tickets at 120-A Main Hallway during lunch.
Tickets for guests not attending St. Pete High must have a form filled out and signed by an administrator prior to purchasing tickets. Pick up forms in the Main Office or on the school website at https://www.pcsb.org/Page/233.
Voting for Junior Prince /Princess and Prom King/Queen will be held in English classes April 9-11.
The Music and Art Departments are collaborating for a spectacular multi-media Spring Concert! Art I and Art II students are creating fine art corresponding to musical selections. A slide show will be presented simultaneously of the art work for the viewing audience.
The concert and art event will be performed on April 23 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Refreshments will follow. It promises to be an event not to be missed!
The St. Pete High Swim and Dive Team is getting ready for a successful season next year. They are excited to be competing in the 3A Division next year and hope to add more swimmer names to their new Record Board.
In March, Coach Montoya and Coach Vinciguerra announced the new season’s Swim Team Captains.
Anyone interested in Marching Band for next year should attend the parent meeting on April 15 at 7 pm in the band room.

Congratulations to our SPHS Varsity Ethics Bowl team for winning the Regional Championship in February! The Ethics Bowl is a form of debate, and our team debated the issues virtually over Skype in the Media Center. They went up against the same team that defeated them last year (James River High School in Virginia), this time sweeping all 3 judges to win.
The entire Varsity team is made up of these smart, dedicated and hard-working IB students: Arielle Noah, Camille Luong, Kasha Tyranski, Victor Xie, Jack McKyton, Tiffany Zhou, Hubert Pugzlys, and Lydia Silverstone.
IB junior Sophia C. Vesely, co-captain of the varsity soccer team, is the first player to verbally commit to Swarthmore College women’s soccer team for the class of 2024. This liberal arts college, founded in 1864, is located near Philadelphia and known for academic excellence. Swarthmore has a competitive 9% acceptance rate, ranks third for National Liberal Arts Schools by U.S. News and World Report, and ranks first as the most ethnically diverse college by Best College Reviews.
Soccer coach Rui Farias is very proud, noting that Sophia helped lead the team to two state finals in her first three years at SPHS.
The St. Petersburg High School Theatre Department presented the musical comedy Legally Blonde from March 28 to March 30. This hilarious seven-time Tony-nominated musical smash is based on the MGM Motion Picture “Legally Blonde” and novel by Amanda Howard, with Music and Lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Legally Blonde follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. With memorable songs and dynamic dances, Legally Blonde features an original pop score. (more…)
Club MED is a new club on campus that organizes opportunities for high school students to gain exposure to the medical field before college. To date, they have brought in six medical professionals to speak to members as well as participated in three field trips to local medical facilities.
