Pam Benton, Pinellas County’s PreK-12 World Languages Specialist, recognized teachers and student participants in the 2018 World Languages Showcase held on April 23.   She wrote, “We enjoyed everything from French skits and poetry declamations to an explanation of mate tea and its origins.  A highlight of the evening was “What I’ve Learned” from the students at Morgan Fitzgerald, and St. Petersburg High School students explaining their projects in fluent Spanish.”

Nearly 50 elementary, middle, and high school students, including SPHS IB sophomores, performed or presented projects in the Showcase at Pinellas Park High School.  IB Spanish teacher Gisela Torres complimented our sophomores for “doing a great job in the Showcase!”

Ms. Benton recognized the hard work of the World Languages Teacher Association (WLTA) Board of Directors who organized and executed this event, including WLTA Board Member and Social Chair Alvaro Cano.  Mr. Cano is an SPHS IB Spanish teacher

Ms. Benton also recognized the teachers from the five schools represented, including SPHS IB Spanish teacher Gisela Torres, for preparing their students and allowing them the opportunity to participate in this cultural event.
