The September 6, 2018 Pinning Ceremony commemorated the transition of IB juniors from the pre-diploma program to their official entry into the IB Diploma Program at the start of their junior year. It took a lot of perseverance and dedication by the Class of 2020 to reach this important milestone.  The ceremony also recognized new IB faculty and staff by awarding them with pins too. 

The ceremony opened with IB Coordinator Kieonna Lane providing welcoming comments.  The keynote speaker was distinguished SPHS IB alumnus Lindsay Grinstead (’97)Ms. Grinstead is the Founding Partner of The Tonic Consulting Group and Co-Host of Girls on the Sideline. She earned her B.S. from the University of Florida in 2000 and an MBA from Pepperdine University in 2007.

Pins were presented to students by Principal Darlene Lebo and announced by Suzanne Verhulst, an alumni parent.  IB Faculty members Carlie Saval, Rob Tarrou, and Dave Tennian also received their pins.   A dessert reception followed with music provided by student volunteers, IB senior Elizabeth Rau and Leah Colon.

The Pinning Ceremony and refreshments were sponsored by the IB Boosters.  A special appreciation to the Chair of the IB Pinning Committee, Lisa Scribano; all of the Pinning Committee volunteers; and IB Boosters Hospitality Committee volunteers led by Cindee Connon for this memorable evening.
