Three St. Petersburg students will represent the city of St. Petersburg as student ambassadors to Takamatsu, Japan, during a cultural exchange visit July 1-11. SPHS IB juniors Layla Sumilang and Eleanor Anderson (pictured) and Taylor Johnson of St. Petersburg Collegiate High School were chosen by St. Petersburg’s Sister Cities Committee in April 2019.

During their stay, the students will learn about Japanese culture while sharing St. Petersburg experiences with their host families and Takamatsu city officials. After their return home, Eleanor, Layla and Taylor will present to City Council an overview of their visit.

Later in July, St. Petersburg will host three student ambassadors from Takamatsu who will share their culture with host families and the community. Several community programs are planned for the students during their stay.
