The August 30, 2017 Pinning Ceremony commemorated the transition of IB juniors from the pre-diploma program to their official entry into the IB Diploma Program at the start of their junior year.

“What a wonderful event the Pinning Ceremony was,” shared Maria Kast-Ondraczek, IB Boosters President, about the event.  “It took a lot of hard work, dedication, and grit by the Class of 2019 to get to this point, and the best is yet to come!”

The ceremony opened with IB Coordinator Susan Farias providing welcoming comments.  The keynote speakers were distinguished SPHS IB alumni and brothers Christopher Klemawesch, Esq. (’92) and Patrick Klemawesch, MD (’94).  The audience was riveted by their humor and humility, as each reflected on his journey through the IB program and their subsequent career discernments. Parents and students appreciated their genuine message of support and encouragement.

Also as a side note, kudos to Chris Klemawesch for joining the IB Booster Board this year.  Although his children will not enter high school for several years, Chris joined the board because he wanted to give back to the program.

Pins were presented to students by Principal Darlene Lebo and announced by Suzanne Verhulst, an alumni parent.  IB Faculty member Roddy Benton also received his pin.  A dessert reception followed with music provided by IB seniors Natalie Cottrell, Ally Schuenke, and Kyle Brady.

The Pinning Ceremony and refreshments were sponsored by the IB Boosters.  A special appreciation to Lisa Scribano and the IB Pinning Committee volunteers for this memorable evening.
