The St. Petersburg High School Theatre Department presented the musical comedy Legally Blonde from March 28 to March 30. This hilarious seven-time Tony-nominated musical smash is based on the MGM Motion Picture “Legally Blonde” and novel by Amanda Howard, with Music and Lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Legally Blonde follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Goldfever is scheduled for January 18, 2019 at 7 pm in the Auditorium. The theme this year is Goldfever Goes Gen-Z! Tickets are $8 in advance during school and lunch hours. Tickets will be $10 at the door.
Goldfever is a high-energy dance and lip sync contest and is the annual fundraiser for the Theatre Department. Many campus clubs and organizations participate and it has been a great success for over twenty years.
Awards are given in the following categories:
- Best Overall
- Best Organization
- Best Service Club
- Critic’s Choice
- Fan Favorite where the audience is the judge!
The SPHS Fall Play, Lauren Gunderson’s Silent Sky, will be performed Thursday through Saturday, November 8-10 at 7pm, Auditorium Theater. Silent Sky, much like the movie “Hidden Figures,” shines a light on the women who made critical, groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of space with both warmth and humor.
Tickets are $8 for students, $12 for adults, I.T.S. Honored. Disabled and preferred seating are available. (more…)

Congratulations to the students who performed in the SPHS Fall play, The Children’s Hour, November 9 – 11, 2017 in the Auditorium.
Seven of the 16 roles were performed by the following IB students: Freshmen Katie Sebring and Logan Wilson, sophomore Isabella Myers, and juniors Dominika Dzurny, Mason Weaver, Jadyn Gonzales, and David Eaton Jr.
Congratulations to the Thespians on a great showing at the State Festival in March! Ms. Grunz reported that everyone represented SPHS well.
